Hello and welcome! The Silver Traveler was born from a shared love of adventure. For decades, Vicki and her husband, Bill, explored the world together, believing that travel enriches our lives at every age. Whether it was a weekend road trip, an international journey, or discovering a hidden gem close to home, Bill was an integral part of every adventure and every story.
After long careers in public transportation safety and utility operations, Vicki and Bill dedicated themselves to traveling and sharing what they learned along the way. Together, they created The Silver Traveler to help mature and senior travelers explore the world with confidence by providing practical advice, “know before you go” tips, accessibility insights, honest reviews, and authentic stories from destinations near and far.
Although Bill passed away in 2026, his adventurous spirit, kindness, and love of discovering new places remain woven into every page of this blog. Many of the articles, photographs, experiences, and travel lessons shared here were created together, and his influence continues to inspire each new journey.

Our travel style? A little bit of everything. You’ll find us cruising the high seas, flying off to far-off places, hopping trains just to watch the world roll by, or hitting the open road when the Pacific Northwest sun decides to make an appearance. As Vicki’s sister likes to say: “If you’re hanging out with Vicki and Bill, bring your passport. You never know.”
Who do we travel with? Anyone who can keep up. We love our solo escapes, our together-time adventures, and our wonderfully chaotic family trips. And at least once a year, we manage to gather the whole lively crew for a big journey — laughter and logistical chaos included.
Our mission with The Silver Traveler is simple: to inspire and empower the over-60 crowd to get out there and explore. We’ll share practical tips, honest reviews, and stories from the road to show that adventure doesn’t come with an age limit — just a good pair of walking shoes.
Today, Vicki proudly carries that legacy forward. Through The Silver Traveler, she continues the mission they began together—to encourage mature travelers to embrace new experiences, travel with confidence, and create memories that last a lifetime. Bill may no longer be beside her on the journey, but he will always be part of every adventure.
